The BeadCreators

Creating beautiful beadwork with BeadCreator

Has anyone here tried putting their Pattern's, PDF or JPG on a Kindle Fire.  I just posted pictures of my Kindle with patterns......    I love beading form a screen instead of paper.

It's easy to put jpg's or PDF's on a kindle and a couple of ways to do it.  It just requires a USB cable or a INTERNET connection.    I use the USB cable.  Just connect your kindle vie the usb cable, it will connect as another drive (like a thumb drive) and you can drag and drop your files to the kindle.

The Kindle users guide on the kindle gives instructions under Managing your Content in Chapter 3 to use the USB cable.  On The Amazon web sit, in Manage your kindle Help, it tells you how to send your stuff to amazon to be stored on your Amazon account and you can download to your Kindle from there.

Hope this is some help to you all    Marcia

Yes Brenda your are right.  It is a pattern graph exported as a jpg.  I do all my beading from a graph.  So it works for me.

But wouldn't it be great to have an app for BCP on your tablet or kindle so you could actuarially interact and work on a design?

It would be great!! But you'd need the tablet to be quite powerful. There is one which claims to be able to run windows programs...can't remember its' make. I follow a word chart. More than 20 colours so not sure how the graph would work :)

Hi Brenda,  I suppose a tablet would be better, but a kindle is big enough.  I never use a word chart, guess I think more visually.  That is why I like to work off my computer screen.  With 30 or 40 colors, a graph just doesn't work unless you can point to the bead to see (on the status line on the bottom) what bead color it is.  I point to see the color and click to mark my beads, as I go on the computer.

Since Andrew improved the pattern export to jpg.  I use the symbols and color chart with that.   Then I export to jpg and put it on my kindle.  I posted a small pattern with symbols that you can look at.

I also tried putting the PDF on my Kindle with the Word Chart,  Just to see how it would look.  That works great too.

I used to work off a word chart on the computer, with the pattern in BC in the background. I still followed the word chart. I find it quicker, though I can't say I've ever followed a graph :) I'll be doing some extensions for a bracelet and have included the graph in the PDF. I'll use it as a guide to be sure I'm doing it correctly. It's a small section so I could theoretically follow it. Perhaps I'll try it then :)
