The BeadCreators

Creating beautiful beadwork with BeadCreator

Hello,

I have a quick question about exporting a pattern as a pdf.  I have been using this software for quite some time now and really love it.  I have just recently begun selling some of my patterns and like the ease of exporting the patterns as pdfs.

But recently it has come to my attention that the word chart does not match up to the graph (a customer pointed it out to me).  I don't personally use the word graph, so I had not noticed.  After carefully going over the word graph I realized it's not even close to the graph.  I'm using 2 drop peyote for this pattern, but even when I changed it to different types of stitch it's still off.  I'm just seeing if anyone else is having this problem and if they are how i can correct it. Thank you very much.

Try using the original choice on the chart instead of the combined.

Thank you, I've tried exporting it in both original and combined and the word chart looks exactly the same for both. It looks like the word chart is exporting for 1 drop peyote, not 2 drop. I went back and changed the pattern to 1 drop and the word chart matched up perfectly. But when I change it back to 2 drop (or even 3 or 4 drop), the word chart is exactly the same. It never changes. I don't use the word chart, so I wouldn't have caught this normally. I've tried adjusting different things, but I just can't seem to make the word chart change.

Thanks,
Victoria T.

I am having this problem, also. Very frustrating. Have tried exporting the word chart every which way. I have a simple, 5-color geometric pattern, 2-drop peyote, and the word chart is different in the export-as-text version, and the Publisher version. Neither matches the pattern, in either original or composite.

I'm also having trouble with loom patterns--can't get them to consistently read left to right each time I create one.

When I change a design, it doesn't appear to change the word chart, as well.

Another issue: When I attempt to edit the palette from within the pattern window pane, it won't allow me to do that. I've discovered a workaround--close BC5, then right-click on the Pattern Creator sub-program directly and run it also as administrator, save and close the palette created, go back into BC and reslect the palette in the bead fairy. (I now have a shortcut on my desktop for both Palette Creator AND BeadCreator.)

Yet another: The Publisher tool. It exports my Cover page with the title of the piece beneath the design preview, and "(COVER)" on the top of the page. I can't get rid of that, nor can I number the pages of the book, nor eliminate the BC version # on the bottom of every page, If I were buying one of my patterns, I wouldn't expect to see that.

It's frustrating. The patterns look so awesome on the screen--I just wish I could get them down on paper!

Does the Feb. 2 update fix some of these bugs? Anyone know what's changed in the update?

Hi Sally,

Version Feb 2 does have some of the problems you are having corrected. The Cover with wording under graphic, if you choose Full Cover (Menu>Publish), has been corrected. You cannot delete or edit the footer or BC ID that are default when the pattern is created. You need a PDF editor program to do that. But you can change the color to white from the Layout Tab. There is a slight glich in an all or nothing way. If you choose to keep the footer with page numbers at black and change BC ID to white, both go white. If you choose to make the footer white and not change the BC ID to white, both are still there in black. I will report bug to Andrew.

Editing the palette of an existing design is easily done from the Edit... botton down below the Color Map. This palette (now unique for just this design) will open in PaletteCreator. You edit it; but you do not save it from PaletteCreator. Just close PaletteCreator. Now save your pattern in BeadCreator from Menu>File>Save and your changes are saved.

If after you get version Feb 02 and still have word chart problems, then come back here. Oh, the File>Export>Text Word Chart is suppose to look different than File>Export>PDF or File>Publish>Single Pattern because the .txt file is neither a table or column. But it should still read the same. I did find one glich in File>Publish>Single Pattern when pattern is peyote - the first 2 rows are always combined even if you choose Original. I will report the bug to Andrew. Try using File>Export>PDF.

Hope I have cleared up some things for you,
Susie Hughes

Thank you all very, very much. I'm going to go home and try exporting the word file again tonight.

I do have one last question, when did this Feb 02 version come out? Did I miss it? Please let me know where I can get the upgrade.

Thank you again,
Victoria T.

Victoria,

Updates are posted on the MAIN page here. You have to open a Support Ticket and request that the update be sent you. Serial numbers are not a problem anymore (so much). I've installed 27 updates to 5.0 since Oct and never once did I have to get a new serial number.

I installed the update which fixed a lot of the problems I was having. The program runs great now.

But I'm still having problems with the word chart. I've tried exporting it as a test doc, but it still isn't correct. I've even tried creating a brand new pattern (of the same image) and exporting that and it's still off. The word chart just doesn't seem to match up to the graph with the two drop peyote. The word chart never changes for the design, no matter what peyote stitch I use. I've changed the pattern to one drop, and the word chart does seem to match up. But when I change the pattern to two drop it does not match (looks like it's exporting it as one drop). It just looks like you can only export a word chart in one drop.

I normally wouldn't have even noticed this, but I had a customer point it out. I was going to just take the word charts out until I got the problem fixed, but this customer would like to order a number more patterns and she needs the word charts.

Thank you,
Victoria T.

Hi Victoria,

I will check out the 2-drop peyote word chart for you. I admit that I never actually tried that stitch when testing. If I find I have a problem also, I will document and send to Support. Glad you got Feb 02 installed.

Thanks, Susie. I'm going to go for the Feb. 2 update, and glad you're working on the 2-drop problem. I love 2-drop for some things and look forward to its BC possibilities. Here's a Valentine's Day toast for completing the manual!
