I just received an email from Jeanette Shanigan. She let me know that the beaded quilt blocks for 2010 will follow the theme "Turtles". She will have all the information on her site after October 1.

Glad to hear from someone who has been involved in the wonderful project. I am waiting to hear back from her to see if she has picked a theme. As soon as I know more I will submit to the forum.

Ive done it for the past couple years. Very quick to do with the size she wants...I thought it was 1.5 inches though. I havent heard what her theme is for 2010, but 2009 was hearts, and 2008 was roses. I think 2007 was butterflys, but I dont really remember...her site is www.shanigansbeadshenanigans.com

I was wondering if anyone had ever submitted the 1" x 1" designs to the woman in Alaska that makes 10" x 10" quilts/pictures and auctions them for Breast Cancer Research?? I think it would be great if as a group we could be part of this project also. If anyone is interested, please reply here. I will be writing her later this month to see if she has come up with the theme for next year. Also, you can submit as many as you want and they are for a great cause.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that between my wife's strange "attack" on her memory 2 months ago - and I've been keeping a very close eye on her (she's fine now, but still we're both shook up), and the obligation to go see my daughter in Nebraska with all of the grandchildren, Summer time may be set aside as the time for doing any small projects. Plus I'm in the middle of a large one that I'm hoping to publish, all for the effort of showing that traditional and cultural norms can be sustained, but sometimes, can be broken.

Anyhoo ... just geting my word out. Probably August, as I have a good one for that.

The idea is to put them in "Photos" as Friendly Competition 1, David, or something that sets it apart, but can be researched, like Friendly or Competition. The most hits would be the "winner" from the mutual admiration society, and get the most adulation.

I don't think anyone has yet to put in a pic from last month's competition, and I don't think that anyone will be working at having fun this summer is going to be doing one hour projects. So I'm going to hold off on anymore until it seems that we're all back, settled, and willing to make something clever that we all can ooh and aaah over.

Nancy, I think we are supposed to just post the picture our regular way and then announce you've posted here.

I haven't been participating much due to health and camera problems. Having problems affording either with today's economy. lol

Actually, Amanda, I've been tossing about a "Down Under" theme to be based on our perceptions of Ozzies. Of course, in turn, I'd have to post such an theme based on what Ozzies must think of us. But that gets waaay to existential for my taste! It used to be easy, we met once a month, then at the end, I'd let out what the topic was, and a month later, everyone who had the time just showed off when they showed up. Here, well, that's the first problem, there really is no "here" to arrive at! Not everyone has the same computer capabilities to show off their work. So I've got to be a bit more patient, I guess.
