My sister is moving to Daytona, but she is from the dark side, she's a quilter! We tease each other about being from opposite sides of the tracks. I have really enjoyed BCP designing both square and peyote work. Keeps me out of trouble!

Hi All. I live in Daytona Beach, FL and have not used the square stitch yet, but am very interested. BCP has made it possible to be in touch with others who share the love of beading, and who I can learn from. Glad to be part of this group and looking forward to getting started.

I'm around. I come on every day but not a lot is happening.
It is up in the 30s today so am keeping indoors and trying to keep cool.

Who else has some square stitch techniques or ideas to share?

The top layer, in the centre of the pendant, starts with the turquoise beads. These are stitched one by one on top of the beads in the previous layer. The rows in this triangle are fairy short (6 beads across) The rows in the top half are 3 turquoise & 3 black; the bottom half are 3 turquoise & 3 gold. The final part is a solid turquoise triangle in the very center. The gold and black beads around it are showing through from the previous row. I do have a pattern for this one -- it's just not on my store. Send me an email to discuss it: mg@marilyngardiner.com.
OK, the third layer is two triangles; they both start across the centre of the pendant and are square stitched to the layer below. Each triangle is a "loose flap", and when each is completed it is stitched down along the edges. The top triangle is gold with black edges. The bottom one is black with gold edges.

Marilyn how about a pattern like the new photo so that we can start trying your stunning layering square stitch? Hugs Helene

Here's another photo example of layering square stitch. There's actually 4 layers, The second layer uses the technique I described earlier. If you look at what appears to be stripes, these are actually 3 rows added to a base row and then stitched down to the base again. Look at the top, gold stripe, and then the second gold stripe. There is a row of turquoise beads on the base row peeking through the double layers of gold beads. To be continued...
