Comment by KellyC on April 3, 2012 at 10:18am Thanks, some of these are purchased patterns some are not. Georgia G gave me great advice along time ago. I make samples of my colors. Then when I think I'm ready, I pulled all the palette colors. then make any changes. I don't work with any silk/satin bead and be very careful using tranparent bead in or around the face. I have many scarey looking pieces too. You are creating a palette the same way I would. I find it easier to uncheck all colors, then check what you want to keep, then rename. If you don't check anything else, pull the colors in the face, everything else is more forgiving.
Comment by Susan De on April 3, 2012 at 12:42am Kelly! I love your portrait work...I've been a BC owner since version 1 but have yet to figure out how to get the program to make my people look live, not six feet under. What is your secret? I've woven many, many pieces, so I'm not afraid of the program. BUTTTTTTTTTT, and that's a long, drawn out "BUT", the custom palette creation still escapes me. I understand all about color editing, replacement, barking at the moon, but to use Palette Creator (or whatever it's called) and then actually save, name and recall a palette is beyond me.
Here is my take on what people have tried and tried to tell me. Quite obviously, parts of me are extremely dull, but none-the-less, this is what I think they are saying...
a) Select an image
b) Select a palette
c) Put the image through the program until Create Pattern is finished.
d) THEN, (stand back, here I go), I go open Palette Creator.
e) I enter the beads I have in my inventory and remove the ones I don't. Does that mean I run the image through again, all the way to Create Pattern? That would mean my image might now have blue skin, magenta hair and lemon yellow eyes. Regardless, I save the new palette with all the colors I have, regardless of whether the pattern used them or not, and change the name to "Me, myself and I" or something obvious. Again, assuming this is what they're saying, the next time I use the program and need to select the most appropriate palette, the palette "Me, myself and I" will be in the Select Palette section along with the default ones?
f) Am I anywhere near close? I'm so frustrated, does it show?
Again, your work is great, and sorry to include such a miserable request with my kudos to yudos.
Susan.
