August

Yesterday I dropped off my wave and eye to the Roswell Fine Arts League show. The formal reception will be on Thurs. night. With my tree in Wi. and these two out of the house, my work is getting spread out some. But it is a good thing, right????

I have been commissioned to do a picture of a dog, so have been working on that, need to have it finished in time for Xmas.

This morning, I woke about 3am, couldn't get back to sleep, mind working too much. so, got up and finished… Continue

YEA!!!!

Heard today that my "Loss of Innocence Tree" was accepted by the Eclipse Gallery in Wi for their 50 States,50 Artists, 50 Medium exhibit. I am so thrilled. My tree will have to go to Wi for the exhibit starting in Sept and lasting until Jan 2010.

I love the idea of this exhibit. It was designed to bring together the usual fine arts world and the unusual fine crafts world. Since my work generally crosses over, this seemed like a perfect place to exhibit my work. I am so glad that the… Continue

various competitions

Everyone has been so good about voting on the A Singular Creation site. I won't know the outcome until the 28th. However, I have heard on two other competitions that I have entered.

On the Caravan Miyuki contest, I entered the coral snake and got the Honorable Mention. YEA!. I will be able to use that prize money for more beads.

I made my "Life at the Pond" for a juries exhibition in NY. It was titled Bio Logic. All medium was accepted but the piece had to represent life.… Continue

on to the next sculpture

Now that I have finished the 2009 ornaments it is time to start the next sculpture. I had designed it sometime ago so it was just a matter of fine tuning it and sorting out colors. This one has 132 colors and at least 6 panels. When I showed the design to my sisters they told me that I had resided in Roswell too long. Well, the piece is different and kind of spooky but it will come together as time goes on. I hope to have it finished in time to enter it in this years Roswell Fine Arts League… Continue

new project

This morning I finished a new project. Well, almost finished it. I still have the straps to make. These will allow the piece to be hung from a rod. I will be sure to post photos when completed. shouldn't be much longer.

Hi Juanita, I'm so sorry I haven't been back in touch with you and didn't get any pictures sent on time. My internet has been down and the technician wasn't able to get here until today to service/fix my satelite dish.

I saw your coral snake that won the Miyuki contest....congratulations! I make peyote serpents, too, since 1996 when they came to me in a dream. It's a quick way to separate the brave from the coward, wearing them at a party (LOL) Great work, I'm glad you won the contest.

Juanita,
No, I missed the comment on the Roswell art show. I'll try to find the time to look for it. thanks for pointing it out to me.
I've been heads down beading, between getting ready for the Monmouth juried show and working on special orders for this show.
Also - start laughing - I signed up for a metalsmithing course this coming weekend. the instructor is expecting students who are already working bench jewelers, and who want to add to their expertise. that ain't me ... so I've got to do some quick practice to get up to speed before the class.

Thank you for the comment on my Cross at Sunrise...it does look kind of Easter-ish, doesn't it? I hadn't thought of that before. I designed it similar to a stained glass window I saw and loomed it for my mother. I converted it to peyote, too, but I don't know how to do peyote...I just stick with square stitch and loom. (If I comment back on my photo, does it go back to you? I dunno...so I thought I'd better comment here.) Thank you again! ~Lisa
