Beginnings

I am fairly new to beading (only a couple of months). I met a friend who introduced me to beading. She's also teaching me. At the time I was dealing with a Dad who is in the middle stages of Alzeimer's and a husband with multiple health issues (mostly of his own creation). And rather than kill one of them, I started beading.

I started simple. My first project was a bracelet. The second was a kit, an angel. By that time I was 'hooked'. I used Bead Creator to design my third project, a stained gl… Continue

Rule of thumb is if the person has been dead for 70 years and no one else had renewed the copyright which is hard to do in the case of art....then you are good to go. Otherwise you have to track down the person and ask permission. Some things are released to be used right away when made. Audobon society loves people to use his stuff. Some people are very touchy. National parks stuff is free and there are sites that list all sorts of copyright free things. One has to be careful though because sometimes when you choose something there you find it was not free at all. Asked permission to use from a photographer one time and got a nasty lawyer letter back. Wrote to say I would not infringe on copyright and then received an apology. Altogether tricky business.

First, Congratulations! Babies are wonderful, right? We are expecting two great grands in September and another a little later on. The flood will start in a couple years. Our youngest grand is 9 and most of the others are from age 16 up so you see with the gang we have it will get very hard to keep up and least of all remember names, ha ha.

I can't wait to see your finished projects and glad you are back at work on the one that was giving fits. I am sewing a lot right now so not doing beads except to do mail. Be back at it in a few days probably although am thinking about a second cook book so maybe not completely beads for a bit.

Hope your weather is nice and warm. We had a blast of cold again and rain that was needed but ready for warm sun.....

As for knowing what to say on group-just say who you are and what you like and that's all you need for starters.

Hi Nancy, are you at loose ends with Juanita gone? Got a note from her yesterday and I was trying to figure out if she would be passing fairly close to me and maybe we could meet.....closest seems to be about 200 miles so guess that's out.
Still waiting to see you on the Yahoo group. Later,

I am strange in that lists are actually a happy thing for me. As long as the deadlines are not too piled together or too soon.

Here is the link to the group and I am sorry but don't remember if they have a digest there or if it is all single messages. Go to the link and put in a new post introducing yourself and say you would like to get acquainted. The flood of messages will start. the only other way is to just keep reading new mails and reply when something catches your fancy. The list is not terribly large although new folks come in regularly. A good spot to get help, ideas and encouragement. You could also make a photo album while you are using the link. Look on the left side of the page for places to go. Make and album, post some pics and then write a short intro and post to the group.
That's the only way I know to get started.
I'll be looking for you there soon.

You are correct in wanting lots of things to do. I am always happy then but bored unless we are traveling if I have nothing on the list.
Making a couple patterns but we are installing a new outside back door and that is keeping me busy cleaning up messes! Should finish today.

Oh, I believe you will do well. I may be doing more sewing for a while in trying to help grand daughter, Julie, get some maternity things lined up. She has no clue how fast they will be necessary now at the 4th month mark.
One nice things about the beading is the project doesn't spoil if it takes longer than expected, ha ha.

Don't want to give bad advice so he must see what the Dr. says about eating but for myself I found that after all the healing then I could eat anything at all. Seems like while healing the incision and stuff that foods that were fatty didn't sit well at all.
There were several years when I ate everything but then one fine day after much difficulty got the Celiac diagnosis. Oh well, something new to watch out for.
I hope you get to beading a lot and that he will feel better each day. By time for your trip he should be well healed and feisty again.

Sure things and glad to know things are perking along OK now. You will enjoy your trip to IL later and by then Hubby will be pretty much back to normal.
I had my gall bladder out several years ago and in my case by three weeks was feeling great. Had the old fashioned incision but right down the middle. Due to being kind of small they thought that would be best and so there is a scar about 4-5" long from the bottom of the breast bone down. Did not expect that one. Sure felt better with the pesky thing gone though.
Now that spring is here we can all spend a bit more time out doors and I find that healing as well. Just the sights and sounds along with some sun makes me feel terrific.
Hope you have a wonderful Easter and bead on my friend.

Oh Nancy, I am sorry you missed the wedding and you had such a scare. It is very good though that it was only a gall bladder problem and not something real serious. Although for him it must have felt serious and scary too. Seems that things get so much more intense as we age maybe in part because we know too much and also know that with age we are more vulnerable. Hope he is healing well and I know you will enjoy the trip later in May.
Not to worry about not answering right away although I did wonder what was happening....

That will be so very nice. I hope you have a wonderful day and beautiful memories. Could you send a pic of your flower additions when finished? Sure would love to see how they turn out.
Maybe use the regular mail--

Snow is starting to melt here. We got about 8" and it blew all day so that there are many drifts. Sun is bright this morning and due for the 60s so most of it will go today. Crazy!
